On 8GB model

An Austrian site is quoting Holger Schmidt, an Asus spokesman for Germany, as saying that the 8GB Eee PC will ship with a 10-inch screen.

Schmidt said that the 8GB version was not ready yet, but that it will include a 10-inch display whilst retaining the size of the 7-inch Eee notebooks, which measure 22x16x3.5cm. No word on resolution, but it does strike us as a bit odd that Asus can squeeze a 10-inch screen into such a small device, which measures less than 11-inches across and has two speakers placed on each side of the screen.

Well, the chap says Asus can fit the bigger screen without even changing the case, and who are we to argue? We just hope he's right, since a 10-inch Eee at a rock bottom price would be a very nice piece of hardware.

Schmidt didn't want to comment on reports that Asus is working on a desktop version of the Eee.
