Asustek is feeling the woes of a serious Eee PC shortage, which seems to have upset its plans to launch the low-cost notebook in certain Asian markets.
According to Digitimes, the company had planned to launch the Eee in 15 Asian markets this month, but the shortage has forced it to delay the launch in ten of those markets. At the moment, the Eee is available in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, New Zealand and Australia. It's still not available in large numbers in the US, Euroland and Japan.
Asus plans to ship as many as 20,000 units to Taiwan by the end of the month, and the Eee is expected to make up about 50 percent of its total Q4 notebook sales in Taiwan.
