Blu-ray or HD-DVD, we can do it all

Samsung announced a new hybrid dvd player called Duo HD player BD-UP500. This new baby will support both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD discs.

Samsung decided not to take sides in the media war between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Samsung did release a Blu-Ray player a while back, but now after the first reports on Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD came up, it decided to go for a multi device. Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are not doing great and are tied in results so it's still hard to take sides. LG saw that before Samsung and added a hybrid to their line of products.

According to their press release, :“We are very pleased to announce the upcoming release of our Duo HD player. Consumers are hungry for more HD content but are currently confused about competing formats. Samsung’s Duo HD player will allow consumers access to every HD movie title available regardless of the authoring format.".

In other words, we don't care which side wins, it is all about profit. Samsung and others that will surely join the dual standard wave as they want to get as much market as they can. What can we say, all is fair in love, war and making the money.

The funny thing is that we said that this will happen more than a year ago below.
