Can be found for $129.99 at e-retailers

We guess that everyone expected this to happen in light of Toshiba blowing out all of those second-generation standalone players for less than US$100. It comes as no surprise that the HD DVD drive add-on for the Xbox 360 has dropped to US$129.99 just in time for the holidays. The 360 add-on drive still qualifies for the five free mail-in HD DVD movie offer. According to various reports, the Toys R Us Web site was the first site where the lower price was spotted.

Launched with a US$199 price tag, this is the third major price drop that the drive has had since release. While the drive has been pretty popular with Xbox 360 owners, because of the standard USB interface that it is uses, it is also able to be connected to a PC, as well. PC owners, however, must have a recent video card that supports HDCP and a monitor that does as well.
