Nine patents violated

Nortel
has filed a lawsuit against Vonage claiming that it violated nine patents.

The patents relate to Internet phone services and related features such as 911 and 411 calling and click to call. The lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. District Court in Delaware and is a counter suit to one from Vonage that Nortel had violated three of its patents.

Vonage bought three patents from Digital Packet Licensing last year. However, DPL was in a court case against Nortel on them at the time. Vonage continued with the lawsuit. Vonage had settled all of its other lawsuits with the major U.S. telecom companies after industry observers had written off the company in the summer as its legal problems mounted.
