Explanations

Microsoft has until tonight to explain why it has failed to meet some of the demands made upon it by the EU in its long running anti-trust case.
EU anti-trust commissioners had given Microsoft until tonight to reply to its claims that it was not meeting its requirements under the anti-trust ruling.

According to Thomson Financial News Microsoft says that it is on track to present its response to the European Commission in time.

In early March, the EU executive accused Microsoft of demanding excessive royalties from the licensing of its software protocols and threatened the group with a new daily penalty, of an unspecified amount, if it does not meet compliance.

The commission has threatened to fine the company up to three million Euro a day, backdated from the end of July, for a continued failure to comply.
