PR glitch causes confusion

It would appear that our earlier report that AMD’s Hector Ruiz received a raise was incorrect due to a PR glitch that caused a misunderstanding of the facts. The raise that everyone is talking about actually was for the year 2006 when he spent part of the year making $950,000 and part of the year making $1,124,000. While his salary rate has changed, it only has gone up by around $24,000; according to sources that has more to do with how his company car is accounted for on the company books rather than anything else.

Like everyone else, we are left wondering why the SEC filing with the new salary information came out last week and not 18 months ago. No one seems to know the answer to this question. He is still the highest paid CEO in the semiconductor field and that has not changed.
