So much for court actions

Despite
bids by the music and the film industry to shut down illegal torrenting, P2P traffic has continued to grow.

Last year's top download was the TV series, Heroes, with 2,439,154 downloads on BitTorrent alone.

Figures compiled by Mininova show other top downloads included British television show Top Gear, Battlestar Galactica, Lost and Prison Break.

The most downloaded film was the generally awful Transformers, which topped the list with 569,259 downloads. Next best were the dire comedy Knocked Up, Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End and The Bourne Ultimatum.

It seems that the generally unfunny or abysmal are finding a home in P2P when they should not be making it at the movies.

Some of the downloading appears to be in areas where customers are told by the movie industry that they will have to wait to get a copy of the film, or have a short run.
