Charlie D. aims for four in a row

TigerDirect, Systemax, AMD and Acer will again team up at next week’s Consumer Electronics Show to sponsor the 11th Annual TigerDirect Build Your Own PC Race for Charity.

Thirty IT journos will participate, but it seems like a waste of time and resources, as long-time Inq hack Charlie Demerjian has already scored a hat trick, winning the last three competitions in a row. Last year Charlie assembled his PC in 6 minutes and 47 seconds, about the same time it takes an average person to assemble a frozen AK-47 after a misfire.

This year the competitors will be assembling an AMD Phenom 9500-based machine. The top three winners will receive a total of $13,500 in cash that is also donated to their designated charities.
