Needs a closer look

The
U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has voted to institute an investigation of goods made by ASUSTeK, which IBM claims breach its patents.

According to an ITC statement, the products at issue in this investigation are motherboards, graphics cards, notebook computers, server computers, barebone computers and routers. IBM made the complaint in December and wants the ITC to issue an exclusion order and a cease and desist order.

So far, the ITC has not decided if the case has any merit. But it will refer the matter to Judge Theodore Essex, an ITC administrative law judge, to hold an evidentiary hearing. The process will probably take about a month.
