Sony has apparently stopped the production of the PSP Go, which is actually not that much of a surprise. Despite the price cut, the PSP Go is not selling; so there is little reason to make more of them.

While Sony is not confirming that production of the PSP Go has ended, they are not going out of their way to refute a number of retailers that have marked the product as end-of-life or discontinued in their systems. Our retailer sources tell us that they have been told that PSP Go units are limited to what is on hand in their distribution warehouse, and there will be no more units once these are gone.

When all is said and done and we look at the PSP Go, it will be viewed in our opinion as a very grand experiment that failed for all of the wrong reasons. It isn’t a bad platform, and the device itself really could be described as ahead of its time. It does seem to have paved the way for the NGP (PSP2) with some of its design.

According to our retail sources, we should expect to see a steady stream of PSP Go units at the retail level for the time being that are doing little more than collecting dust. It is going to take additional price cuts for Sony to be able to move the inventory that is remaining.
