Acer says business as usual

by on02 May 2011

Same old rubbish day in and day out
Maker of the worst laptop I have even owned, Acer has said that it has recovered after the sudden exit of its Italian CEO Gianfranco Lanci.

The outfit has been restructuring like crazy and according to company chairman and CEO JT Wang it is all done and dusted. In a press conference, Wang said that Acer-branded PC products have also remained steady at the end market.

He claimed this meant that Acer's brand value and consumers' confidence on Acer were not affected by the ongoing corporate structuring. The company's forecast to see its PC shipments drop 10 per cent sequentially in the second quarter also remains unchanged, Wang added.

Corporate president Jim Wong said that Acer will review its relationships with channels as the company will no longer push shipments to the channels in order to push up revenues and market share. Wong said that Acer will step up its presence in the business notebook segment.
