Goodbye DRM

Norwegian
hacker "DVD Jon" has started a business that enables users to copy and use copy-protected Apple iTunes songs non-Apple devices.

According to a press release, DoubleTwist claims to make it easy for consumers to share created audio, photos and video clips via computers, certain mobile phones or PSP game players. It also allows the synchronization of media sitting on their computers to mobile devices they or their friends own, simply by "dragging and dropping."

Doubletwist works with Sony's PSP game console, Nokia's multimedia N-series, Sony Ericsson's Walkman and Cybershop lines, LG's Viewty, and Microsoft's Mobile smartphones. The software kills off copy-protected formats by replaying a song in fast-forward mode and capturing a copy of the audio track by re-recording it.

However, users can only play back the music they have already purchased and that they are authorized to play.
