Gamers take over aircraft carrier

From Yankee Station to gamer's paradise

 
Nvidia hosted gamers this weekend in Alameda, California aboard the retired USS Hornet aircraft carrier at their GeForce LAN 6 event. The party lasted 48 hours with over 600 registered BYOC gamers. Attendees were given a sneak peak at one of the most anticipated games upcoming PC games, Battlefield 3.

The majority of the main hangar on the USS Hornet was converted into an enormous gaming arena large enough for 620 bring your own computer, "BYOC", gamers.  The other parts of the deck were setup for exhibitors and sponsors as well as a presentation area.  One of the more unique features of the event being held on the aircraft carrier was that NVIDIA gave the gamers the option of sleeping overnight on the ship in what was termed "LAN CAMP".

This years exhibitors and sponsors included Antec, ASUS, Comcast Xfinity, Cooler Master, Corsair, CyberPower, Digital Storm, EA, EVGA, Falcon Northwest, Maingear, MSI, Origin, Plantronics, Razer, TigerDirect/Systemax, Toshiba, and Zotac.
