Deal could be valued at over $600 million

It finally appears that it is going to happen… the Beatles (and their heirs), one of the last hold outs in moving to the digital music age, are heading to iTunes in a deal that, according to various reports, could be valued at over $600 million.

Rumors have swirled around the possible release of the entire Beatles catalogue of music on iTunes for a long time now. Negotiations between the Beatles and Apple have been taking place for some time; but until now they have not led to a finalized agreement, which now seems to have been achieved.

While no rumors on a timetable for the released Beatles catalog on iTunes, or details of when the official announcement will be coming, have been released it has been said that the news will be coming soon.

The decision to release the Beatles catalog on iTunes is likely a good one for the band, as it could open the band’s huge library of music to an entirely new generation of listeners as well as provide a new revenue stream for the band. No details on how the money would be split with the Beatles and Apple have been announced.
