Google expands Google Apps support

Google has announced the extension of technical support for Google Apps for Business customers to cover all issues affecting core services.

Until today, Google only offered 24x7 phone support for only critical issues. The core services for paying Google Apps users are Gmail, Calendar, Groups, Docs, Sites, and Video.  

The company's decision to expand its phone support comes as it continues make progress moving customers from traditional, on-premises software to its hosted cloud services.  Google will continue to maintain its online help services.  Currently Google has technical support call centers in multiple countries around the world.

Amit Singh, VP of enterprise sales and operations at Google, made the announcements at Atmosphere 2011 and also announced a handful of new converts to Google's cloud.  The new customers included Burberry, Casio, Goodyear, Guardian, Perry Ellis, and Softbank. There was however, no mention of General Motors, who is rumored to be negotiating with Google to switch to the cloud platform.
