Hotmail stole my account

by on19 December 2011

Microsoft incapable of checking IP

I’ve been using a Hotmail address and messenger for about ten years and as of last week Microsoft said that someone has hijacked it and that I cannot have it back.

I tried to fill a standardized form to verify my ownership three times but each time Microsoft said no. It’s as if no-one in the Hotmail team can check my fixed IP address and simply realize that it’s my account. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, the support team begs to differ.

They asked about email subjects as well as a few addresses, but to be honest, I haven’t used Hotmail for sending emails for years now. In fact, I don’t know anyone who sends emails from Hotmail, just used this one to register on some websites that wanted email and for MSN.

This morning, I tried to recover my account again and I got the following message: “Our server is having a problem. We're working to fix it as soon as we can, so try again in a few minutes.”

So far, Microsoft hasn’t been able to resolve the issue and let me have my MSN account back. Marry Xmas to you all.
