The original first-generation Android tablet from ASUS, the Eee Pad Transformer TF101, is slated to receive Google's latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software update in mid-February according to sources within the company.

A dedicated ASUS fan was surprised to receive an official response from the company when he Facebook messaged the ASUS North America fanpage asking for an update on the expected update roll-out. To his suprise, the company quickly responded "You should be receiving your update for the [ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101] in mid-February."

ASUS launched its original Eee Pad Transformer tablet in April 2011. Since then, the product has managed to surpass over 400,000 shipments per month, making the Transformer the second-best selling tablet after the Apple iPad. With the recent launch of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime in December 2011, the company is once again expecting to set a more aggressive tablet shipments goal. Ultimately, we have no doubt ASUS will be able to achieve its internal revenue goals, seeing as the Transformer Prime was the first tablet to receive Google's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software update at CES 2012 in Las Vegas.
