Beats MSI

Motherboard maker Asustek performed the best among the top four motherboard makers in the first quarter of 2007.

The company made a net profit after tax amounting to US$30 million.
Asustek's originally planned for a five to ten percent drop in motherboard shipments in the second quarter but it looks like this will not happen.  It plans to ship 63 million motherboards in 2007.

The next biggest motherboard maker was MSI, followed by Gigabyte.

Gigabyte was crippled in the fourth quarter by a short supply of CPUs, a delay of Windows Vista and a recent case of fraud at Gigabyte's subsidiary in Ningbo, China.
