Facebook launches ‘Find Friends Nearby’ service

Just what stalkers were looking for

Attention stalkers everywhere, Facebook has come up with a new location-based feature that allows users to find friends and even potential friends nearby.

Dubbed ‘Find Friends Nearby,’ the service can be checked out at http://fb.com/ffn and it is also available through Facebook’s mobile apps. If the idea sounds somewhat familiar, it should. Glancee promoted a very similar concept and Facebook bought the company a couple of months back.

Facebook engineer Ryan Patterson told TechChruch that he came up with the service with a fellow engineer during one of Facebook’s hackathlons.

“For me, the ideal use case for this product is the one where when you’re out with a group of people whom you’ve recently met and want to stay in contact with,” he said.

You can check out the new feature yourself by accessing menu > apps > find friends > other tools > Find Friends Nearby in your mobile FB app.
