Apple said to be working on new iPod touch, nano

Wait, Apple is still making iPods?

Although the upcoming sixth-generation iPhone is grabbing headlines all over the place, there’s some interesting news to report on the iPod front, too.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple plans to update both the iPod touch and iPod nano later this year, probably in September. Macrumors claims Kuo has a pretty good track record when it comes to all things Apple, so we’ll take him at his word.

Kuo believes the new iPod touch will feature a new 4-inch in-cell touchscreen, making it somewhat thinner than its 3.5-inch predecessor. Also, the processor could also be updated and we could be looking as an A5-class part.

The iPod nano is also supposed to get a major update. Recent rumours point to a complete redesign with a rectangular screen, oblong body and hardware home button.

As with all Apple rumours, they should be taken with a grain of salt.
