Will hire more than 2000 people

Amazon has today announced that it will create more than 2,000 permanent jobs over the next two years with the opening of three new fulfilment centres in the UK.

The announcement comes on the day of the official opening of its eighth UK  centre in Hemel Hempstead which will itself create 600 new permanent jobs. Up to 3,000 temporary jobs will also be created at the three new  centres during the Christmas peak period.

Christopher North, Managing Director of Amazon.co.uk said that the bookseller had created thousands of jobs in the UK over the last few years and are delighted to announce that we plan to create thousands more in the next 24 months. He said his recruitment team has been exceptionally busy recently hiring hundreds of employees at the Hemel Hempstead centre. Jobs involved are in HR, IT, facilities management, Learning and Development and a number of operational management areas.  

Today Amazon is opening a new 450,000 square foot centre at Mammoth in Boundary Way, Hemel Hempstead.
It has other centres in Marston Gate, Doncaster, Peterborough and Rugeley in England, Dunfermline and Gourock in Scotland and Swansea Bay in Wales.
