Although a rumors have been going around about Asus launching a version of the Eee PC 1000 series with a smaller display, pictures have now appeared of one of the models that should be known as the Eee PC 904 over at Eee PC News.

Both the 904 and its 905 sibling will feature 8.9-inch displays in the Eee PC 1000 chassis and as you can see from the pictures, the empty bezel space have been taken up by speakers, much like on the original Eee PC.

Presumably, the 904 and 905 will use the guts of the Eee PC 901 inside the bigger Eee PC 1000 chassis, although there's no official or even unofficial word on this as yet. At least the Eee PC 904 and 905 will have the better keyboard of the Eee PC 1000-series which is a blessing, as the keyboard on the smaller versions are just too small.

Supposedly, the Eee PC 904 and 905 are a response to MSI's 8.9in Wind PC which has yet to launch.
