Motorola RAZR2 V8 and V9

Motorola
has announced two models of the RAZR2 series. Following in the footsteps of its highly succesful V3 RAZR, both models feature the same sleek, ultra thin, metal flip design.

The phones are thinner than their predecessors and have some impressive screen acreage. The main screen is a  2.2" 262k QVGA, and the secondary screen is probably the biggest we've seen so far, also a 262k color QVGA measuring 2". This should allow a bit more functionality without opening the device. It also has a fixed focus 2 megapixel camera, however, there's still no flash.motorazr2v8

The new RAZR2 will come in two flavors. Although at first glance both versions seem identical on the exterior, there are some significant differences. The RAZR2 V8 is a quad band device with EDGE, while the V9 supports EDGE, 3G and HSDPA.

To further complicate things, the V8 will ship in two versions, with 420MB and 2GB memory, and it will use a new Linux/Java interface. The V9 sticks to the Motorola Synergy UI, it has 45MB of internal memory but unlike the V8 it has a microSD memory card.

The V8 should be available in July, and it's V9 sibling is expected sometime in Q3. The sharpened RAZRs won't have an easy ride on the market like their revolutionary V3 predecessor. Many manufacturers, most notably Samsung, caught up and surpassed Moto with their own thin and stylish lines of feature packed mobiles.
