CES 2014: Cortex A53 based

Last year, Apple created the buzz word for 2014 in the mobile market. Since the time Apple announced A7 all the sudden everyone wants to have it. We all need to have the 64 bit computing despite the fact that we don’t.

Qualcomm did talk to us about its first 64 bit mobile processor called Snapdragon 410 and this is their first 64-bit processor. It is based on Cortex A53 cores and of course as it has been the case in the past, Qualcomm will make its Krait 64 cores at later date.

The product will become available to all markets, but it targets the $150 phones.  We can expect it in the 2H 2014. It is of course 28nm part and if you still wonder, LTE is on that chip.

The big trouble and a big question is when is Google plans to launch an android operating system that supports 64 bit computing. This might as well be the real move to Android 5.0 big step up, but we don’t know anything about this.

We expect that Android 5.0 in later part of 2014, and we would not be surprised to see some other players being ready for it.
