Police after online hitmen

Mexican standoff

Mexican cops
are investigating several online ads offering some rather strange services to potential customers. Apparently Mexican hitmen are exceptionally daft, and are advertising online. Not that criminals are the brightest individuals out there, but this story does seem a bit far fetched.

A post on a classifieds site offers services of an "ex-military hitman, professional and discreet." The bloke is advertising online, how much more professional and discreet can you get? The "hitman" guarantees your nemesis will be hanging out with Elvis within 10 days and claims to have worked in Spain. The asking price is $6,000, and if I were you, I wouldn't haggle too much.

It might sound like a joke, but the police are taking such ads quite seriously, and who could blame them, as around 1,700 people have been killed in Mexico this year alone. A Mexican drug gang even aired radio ads in Guatemala, seeking to employ soldiers to work as smugglers (and probably much more than simple pack mules).

So, if you've got combat experience, have no morality whatsoever, like to travel and don't ask too many questions in the process, a Mexican drug cartel could be headhunting for you, not in the literal sense, of course.
