Calm down Apple fanboys, he ain’t dead yet

The King of Samsung underwent had a heart attack on Sunday and had a serious operation from which he is recovering. Lee Kun-hee, 72, was admitted to a hospital near his home late on Saturday night, suffering breathing difficulties, and received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for symptoms of cardiac arrest.

Lee was moved to Samsung Medical Centre, where he had a cardiac procedure for acute myocardial infarction, and is now in stable condition, the Centre added. While many would expect that Lee would see this as a sign he should probably be relaxing and not picking fights with Apple, the Samsung boss is a fighter. He has suffered from problems with his respiratory system since surgery for lung cancer in 1999. He was hospitalized with symptoms of light pneumonia last August. However, he has always come back to work.

Lee has been trying an orderly transition of Samsung to the members of his family. This will be the third time that one generation of the family has succeed another in the electronics business. Lee has also promoted his children to top positions and shuffled affiliates in recent years.

Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee, Lee's son and heir apparent, is expected to succeed him as chairman of the flagship unit.
