New VR headset coming

Samsung has announced that it is working with Oculus on a virtual reality headset. The dark satanic rumour mill had suggested that Samsung was going to come out with competition to Oculus, but it turns out that the pair are working together.

Oculus is handling the software side of this new VR headset, while Samsung's looking after the hardware. Under the deal, Oculus gives Samsung early access to its mobile software development kit, and in return Samsung will provide Oculus with early access to its next-gen OLED screens.

Oculus wants screens which are a higher resolution than 1080p, and Samsung has been working on them for its next range of flagship phones. Oculus is still working on its own, gaming-focused Oculus Rift following its acquisition by Facebook, but the company has recently been sued over the device by ZeniMax which claims it invented it.
