MediaTek reports record October revenue

by on11 November 2014

Up 16.5% sequentially

Taiwan-based SoC designer MediaTek has reported another record month of sales. The company reported consolidated revenue of $705 million for the month of October.

The news comes just a month after MediaTek reported record quarterly sales. The company’s Q3 sales were up 6.1% sequentially. If October is anything to go by, MediaTek should have no trouble reporting another record quarter, as October sales were up 16.5% sequentially. However, MediaTek is not too bullish when it comes to Q4 and it expects overall growth to slow down. The company expects flat sequential growth in Q4, while some analysts expect a slight drop.

While that does not sound too encouraging, MT’s cumulative sales for the first ten months of the year were up a staggering 62.7% year-on-year, so in perspective even a flat quarter wouldn’t buck the overall trend. MediaTek expects to ship 18 to 20 million smartphone SoCs in Q4, including a substantial number of 4G-enabled chipsets.
