HT 3.1, retains the same features as HT 3.0

The HyperTransport consortium, the group that governs the HyperTransport bus has announced the latest spec which will go under the name of HyperTransport 3.1 or HT 3.1.

It will retain all the features of HT 3.0, but the bus speed will be increased from 2.6 to 3.2GHz which allows for a bump of the bandwidth from 41.6GB/s to 51.2GB/s.

How much of an impact this really has on real world applications is hard to say, but it would allow for more bandwidth in large multi CPU/multi core systems such as servers and workstations. In terms of consumer PC benefits, it's hard to see any direct advantages apart from a lower CPU multiplier option.

In related new the HyperTransport consortium has also announced a faster HTX specification, HTX3 which triples the performance over the previous generation to 5.2GT/s. The new specification also allows for link splitting and improved power management.

You can find some details about HT 3.1 here and HTX3 here (PDF).
