Nano to feature curved design & widescreen

In a couple of weeks Apple will be launching a new version of iTunes, which will be version 8, that will go along with the new versions of the iPods that are set to be introduced. Reports are saying that Apple has elected not to revise the iPod Classic this time around, while the iPod Shuffle upgrade to 4GB is still up in the air.

As far as the revisions to the new 4G Nano, most of what we have been hearing is coming true. It will feature a return to the slimmer rectangular narrow 2G design, from the wider current 3G design. It will feature a widescreen display and a new rounded body, which will be a first as far as the iPod designs go.

According to reports, Apple is trying to make sure that iPod pricing steers clear from the $199 price point of the iPhone. Apple has claimed that the sales of the iPhone have been cutting into the iPod sales and this has been a problem for Apple. A product transition will occur that will reduce the gross margins down from 35 to 30 percent, which is something that Apple feels is necessary.

We will see the launch of the new iPods and iTunes 8 in September.
