Mark Cuban slams net neutrality plans

Ayn says it will F*ck everything up.

Cable company boss and worshipper of Ayn Rand, Mark Cuban has warned that if the Government pushes through its net neutrality bill then "the Internet will be "f*cked up."

He said that if Rand was alive now she would not be writing about steel or railroads she would be talking about net neutrality.

The billionaire investor said there was "little evidence" that giant tech companies have ever "throttled" the internet to reduce speeds, so he does not see them as a threat. We guess when you have billions you don't have to worry about a throttled broadband you just pay for a free connection in pursuit of one's own happiness

He just thinks that the rest of the world is being mean to big companies and it would be a bad idea to let the government to have too much control over the internet. After all it is far better to be controlled by a phone company than the government.

Cuban said that while people may not like the depth of competition, wireless currently provides, but wireless networks are getting better by the day and standards are being set for 5G that will compete with wired broadband.

He has a point. After all, it was the comms companies who invented the internet and then rolled it out to the great unwashed and championed faster speeds. Oh, no that is right it was the evil government who invented it, and it was the government which pushed for its adoption while the comms companies throttled every innovation and have made sure that the US one of the slowest connection speeds in the developed world much to the embarrassment of those who tout its so called free market.

What would Rand say about that?
