Still no clue how he got his hands on the songs

The still unreleased album, Chinese Democracy, from hard rock legends Guns N’ Roses is in the news again with the news that the FBI has arrested a blogger from Los Angeles who was streaming the unreleased tracks on his web site.

The Chinese Democracy album has been fifteen years in the making and, according to various reports, only now is it close to finally being released. However, the problem is that when Kevin Cogill posted the unreleased tracks from the upcoming album on his web site, the tracks were recorded and have been posted on file exchange sites.

Although the band requested the removal of the tracks right away, the damage has already been done; which by reports has now delayed the album again. The FBI has been investigating the entire mess since late June, but only now has acted to indict and arrest Cogill, who appears to have admitted to being the source of the leak.

If found guilty and convicted, Cogill could face some very stiff penalties, including $250,000 in fines as well as up to three years in prison.

It is unknown at this time how this mess will affect the release of Chinese Democracy and if the latest scheduled release date will continue as planned.

It is predicted that the album will have to be released in order for the record company to recoup at least some of the large investment that they have in the project, but according to reports revisions made to the album do not include some of the tracks that were leaked, but instead use additional tracks that were not intended to be used on the final released version of the album.
