Era over

The days of Dell selling only by mail order are over as the company has announced it will sell through Wal-Mart in US  from next month.

The company is breaking from a 23-year model of direct sales as it tries to rekindle business.

Computers with accessories will be sold in  3,500 Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, a spokesman said.

There will be two models of Dell's Dimension multimedia desktop computer, which are now available directly from the computer maker.

Although the Dell direct sale model has been almost a religion among company executives, there have been moves towards the idea for several years.
