Tatter to push into Asia

Google has bought the South Korean blogging software company, Tatter and Company, or TNC. The move is a cunning plan to expand the Internet search leader's operations in Asia.

TNC's co-CEO Chang-Won Kim announced the move in his blog and Google has since confirmed it. Google bought the Blogger platform in 2003 with the idea of scouring blog content and tailoring ads more precisely to specific markets.  Now it wants to do the same thing with the Korean market.

In Korea many Internet users there are locked into Web portal-style services. Those services funnel users through one central point for all their Internet needs and limit some of the freewheeling exploration of different sites that help Google sell more ads.

It is not clear how much money changed hands in the deal.
