All roads lead Acer to Chrome

by on13 August 2015

Revenues tank

Acer saw a 30 per cent drop in July revenues, but is keeping itself from being killed off with a success with Chrome OS products

Acer reported consolidated revenues 533.33 million for July 2015, down 36.46 percent on month and 32.78 per cent on year.

Obviously that sort of drop is not sustainable, but Acer was the largest Chrome OS product vendor in the US in the second quarter, especially in the enterprise segment, where it acquired an about 47 per cent share.

In Canada, Acer's share in the Chrome OS market was 56 per cent. However, compared to Windows-based products, Chrome OS products are only able to contribute limited sales.

What this could mean is that Acer will lean more on producing natty Chrome machines. Several analysts we have talked to have suggested that some nice looking Chrome machines might be a good way for many notebook users to tie themselves over.
