Overclocking at its best


Yesterday's overclocking championships held by Gigabyte in Taipei, Taiwan are over, but we thought we'd bring you some pictures of the action and the winners, as we didn't have a chance to post them yesterday.

Colin Brix from Gigabyte was hosting the event, alongside a lovely lady friend whose name we didn't get.

In good Taiwan spirit, Gigabyte got a team of cheerleaders to perform at the event,.

During the morning preparations, everyone was busy setting up their systems, although some had major problems once the competition started, despite their systems having worked perfectly earlier on.

Team Sweden 2 as they'd just beaten their own 3DMark 2006 result, which in the end made them the overall winners of the event.

Team Russia, which was narrowly beaten by Team 2 Sweden and who scored consistently high results.

Team USA 1, who scored the highest 3DMark 01 results and ended up third overall.

A prize draw was also held for the attending public and journalists who guessed the winning teams for each of the four initial events and the overall winner.

Team Japan had the lowest CPU temperature that we saw at -147 degrees C, maybe that cup of noodle container is their secret weapon?

Team South Africa used a nifty styrofoam box to keep their equipment in, which removes the risk of condensation and according to them allows for the motherboard to run at sub-zero temperatures.

Team Thailand all dressed up, who ran into some problems during the initial competition alongside Malaysia, South Africa, Turkey and Team Sweden 1.
