DriveAssist intercepts calls

A Canadian
outfit has released software that stops punters from making telephone calls or text-messaging while driving.

Aegis Mobility said its DriveAssist is "advanced call management technology" that essentially creates virtual personal secretaries to intercept calls or text messages intended for mobile telephones in moving cars.

The software detects when phones are moving at automobile speeds and then tells callers that the person they are trying to reach is driving.  They are told to leave messages or call-back numbers.

It will also tell callers, and presumably parents or employers, where the person they are trying to reach is located by using satellite navigation technology in devices.

If it is really important that a person call, you can bypass the service and be connected to drivers by indicating calls are emergencies.
