Apple killing the Mac Mini

Can’t order it these days

It looks
like the fruit themed toy maker, Apple, is set to kill off its Mac Mini. After years of not talking about the cheap and cheerful Mac Mini, Apple seems set to bump the gear off its catalogue, according to the Gizmodo site.

Two European retailers claim they cannot order the $599 box from Apple at the moment. It is possible that Jobs’ Mob is planning to update the Mini, which has chips so old that they could have powered the GPS system on Noah’s Ark. (So that's why nobody ever found it... sub.ed.).  But the retailers claim that Apple is planning to stick a bullet in the back of the head of the product.

In 2005 the Mac Mini was an experiment in affordability and minimalism.  It was a good idea at the time but was killed off as punters opted for notebooks.

Ironically, killing the Mini off will eliminate the cheapest Mac from Apple's list just when punters are looking for cheaper kits.
