Visible scan lines driving owners crazy

Those that have purchased a Sony PlayStation Portable 3000 are likely still cursing about the visible scan lines that show up on the device. So far, Sony has said little about the problem other than a fix might not be possible.

The second revision to the PlayStation Portable since introduction, the biggest feature of the new Model 3000 version of the device was the slimmer design coupled with what Sony claims is a better LCD screen that offers a higher contrast ratio with faster pixel response times. Of course, the new version also includes some new hardware changes and integration for cost reduction.

Still, many buyers of the 3000 continue to complain about the visible horizontal scan lines that can be seen on many different titles. According to reports, the problem stems from changes on the screen where brightness is changed drastically during play. The scan lines are now more visible due to the better LCD in the 3000 series device.

It remains to be seen if Sony will attempt to correct the problem or not, but several sources are telling us that the initial reports that a fix might not be possible are accurate.
