Trying to develop a Christmas rush


Online retailers
are so worried that punters will not want to buy anything this Christmas, they are flooding the Internet with spam to push discounted goods.

According to AP, spam baskets are being filled with pleas like, "Last chance to save 20 percent," or "Hurry, final sale ends," as retailers are hoping to get consumers to open their wallets despite the economic downturn.

News.com warns that if consumers are fed up with the e-mail blasts now, it is going to get much worse when the holiday season gets underway.

Forrester expects that stores may pull back on e-mail campaigns after the holiday season because it costs retailers too much. It is a simple matter of fact that customers don’t have the money right now and it will take a while for the reality to sink in with retailers, a Forester report said.
