by on21 September 2017

High-end, mid-range-power PSUs with Gold and Platinum rating

Seasonic has been praised for its high-end and high-efficiency PSUs and its Prime Series has been getting nothing but praise from all reviewers. This pushed the company to answer a different market trend with its new Prime Ultra series, where users need a high-end and high-efficiency, but mid-range-power PSUs.

Coming in a wide choice of power outputs, including a 550W version, the new Seasonic Prime Ultra series PSUs will be available with 80 PLUS Platinum and 80 PLUS Gold efficiency rating and have all the features of the high-end Prime series including ultra-quiet operation with Premium Hybrid Fan Control, high-end Japanese capacitors, low ripple noise and clean power output provided by high-end components, active PFC, fully-modular design, compact size with 140mm depth and a 12-year warranty.

Seasonic was also keen to note that there are certain design updates to the Prime Ultra series including the removal of the inline capacitors which should further improve cable management as well as the introduction of new 180 degree SATA connectors that will provide more flexibility and easier installation.

Seasonic also ships each Prime Ultra PSU with a PSU tester, which allows users to quickly jump-start and test the PSU as well as a SATA 3.3 adapter which supports the “Power Disable” (PWDIS) feature of the newer, high-capacity HDDs.

The Prime Ultra series is available in 550W, 650W, 750W, 850W and 1000W power outputs in both 80 PLUS Platinum and 80 PLUS Gold efficiency ratings as well as 650W, 750W, 850W and 1000W outputs with Titanium rating.

Unfortunately, Seasonic did not reveal any details on the actual availability or the price of the new Prime Ultra series.
