Cisco pushes into home electronics

Cisco Systems
is making a big play in digital entertainment and plans to introduce a digital stereo system that is meant to move music wirelessly around a house. The move is part of a long-term plan to take on Apple, Sony and the other gadget makers.

One of the gizmos Cisco boffins are working on will let people watch Internet video on their televisions. Another is a version of its corporate videoconferencing system called Telepresence to chat with their friends over their high-definition televisions, bringing cyber sex to a whole new dimension.

Cisco says that it is making a lot of investment in high-definition television, so that it can provide a lot more services than just watching TV content.
