US consumers think netbooks can't replace regular PCs

at ABI Research claim only 11 percent of US consumers believe netbooks can suffice for their computing needs, and can be used as primary PCs.

About 79 percent of Americans find the netbook to be a mere supplement to a regular notebook or a desktop PC. They cite lackluster performance and midget sized input devices as the main reason for their skepticism toward netbooks.

According to IDC stats, netbooks currently account for around 7 percent of total PC sales, but it's unclear if they're replacing notebooks or just supplementing them. Still, the popularity of netbooks is on the rise, although some leading vendors, such as Apple, haven't enterend the market yet.
