Lenovo starts shipping its IdeaPad Y650

Ultra-thin 16-inch notebook

Lenovo has finally started to ship ts IdeaPad Y650 notebook. Previously announced and showcased at CES 2009, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 is world's thinest 16-inch entertainment notebook and comes packed with quite an impressive hardware with at a pretty decent price.

With impressive 390 x 260 x 26.1 dimensions and a 6-cell 2000mAh battery the new Lenovo Y650 is really an interesting piece of portable hardware, that's if you can call a 6.4lbs (2.5kg) notebook portable. It has a 16-inch LED backlight widescreen display with ambient light sensor, that has a maximu resolution set at 1366x768.

Lenovo's IdeaPad Y650 can be equipped with either Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz CPU or the P8600, clocked at 2.4GHz, both featuring 1066MHz FSB  and 3MB of L2 cache. As far as the graphics goes, Lenovo's ultra-thin 16-inch baby features integrated Intel's X4500 graphics or Nvidia's rebranded Geforce 105M GPU with 256MB of dedicated memory.

The rest of the noted specs include up to 4GB of DDR3-8500 memory, 320GB 5400rpm hard drive, integrated 1.3MP webcam, DVD writer, Bluetooth, WiFi, and JBL's 2x 2W integrated speakers.
