Microsoft shows games are good for kids
Parent survey
Computer games are good for children, according to a Microsoft-commissioned survey in the UK.
The survey shows that parents who are terrified that their precious little snowflakes are going to be damaged by games such as Grand Theft Auto are in a minority.
The Play Smart, Play Safe study, which surveyed 2500 parents, found that games are a "great social experience". More than 61 percent of parents allowed their children to play games labelled with a higher age rating. Under half of parents were more worried about their sons and daughters communicating with older users online than they were about violence. Over half of parents felt games bring families closer together.
Ironically while parents were ok with their kids gaming the Microsoft-backed survey of 1000 children, and found 69 percent of them wanted their parents to keep a closer eye on the age certificates of the games they played.
