Google has admitted that a bug exposed some privately stored documents
in its Docs online application. The issue was resolved over the weekend
and it is believed to have affected just .05 percent of documents
stored at Google Docs.
Google representatives claim the bug occurred in documents which were
used by more than one user, with settings adjusted to allow access to
other collaborators. Unfortunately, collaborators also got the
permission to access documents other than the ones they were working on.
The slip up comes as cloud computing and online applications are being
touted as the next big thing in computing, but concerns about data
security on such online services persist, for obvious reasons.
