CEOs of IT heavyweights Google, Cisco, Oracle, Dell, Intel and 23 other
major tech companies have written US President Barack Obama asking for
support a patent reform bill, in hopes of reducing expensive litigation.
The bill should reduce damages for patent infringement and apparently change some jurisdiction elements of the system.
"Modernizing the U.S. patent system and stopping the abuses
we see now will greatly enhance our efforts to innovate by
creating U.S.-based jobs to help better lead our nation's
economic recovery," say the execs, and claim the reform would "fuel American innovation and competitiveness."
Conspicuously absent from the list of tech juggernauts is, unsurprisingly, Apple.
