The other two thirds can't be
bothered
A survey carried out by security outfit Trend Micro has
revealed that a third British teenagers have hacked into social networking or
bank accounts belonging to other people.
The kids, aged between 12 and 18
years, said that they have been tempted to hack or spy online in return for
monetary rewards. Which we have to admit is a little different from actually
getting away with it.
Apparently under 40 per cent of those tempted have
carried out their cunning plans and some have even been lured by cyber criminals
to be recruited and receive some fast cash. Boys are more than twice as
likely as girls to try their hands at breaking into someone's social networking
profile. Girls are three times more likely to hijack an account for
cash.
Social networking websites like Facebook or Bebo makes it much easier
for users to harvest personal information like date of birth and the name of the
target's mother, which are often asked as security questions.
