Can't fight for house

Apple Messiah Steve Jobs might not be well enough to go to work in June after all.

Just a week after Apple confirmed he would be back at his desk in June, Jobs has told his local council that he is too sick to attend a council meeting about his home. Ever one for history, Jobs wants to demolish his historic California mansion and build something more modern and fruit themed in its place.

While on medical leave from Apple he has been battling Woodside Town Council and preservationists over his plans to demolish a 1600-square-metre, 14-bedroom house. The house, which has been abandoned for over a 10 years,  was built in 1925 for the mining magnate, Daniel Jackling.

In 2004 he got a permit to demolish the house but was dragged to court by preservationists who said that it was one of the few remaining examples of the Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style. Jobs claimed that the house would cost too much to restore, but this was rejected.

Jobs was supposed to show up in court and report to the council their projections of the costs to restore the place versus the cost to knock it down and build a new one. Jobs's lawyer, Howard Ellman, told the council the Apple founder would be staying home for the meeting because he was not "strong enough" to attend if it ran late into the night.

Apple has not commented on this as it could be an indication that Jobs' health has suddenly gone into a slide again.
